Module 4

Dental Resorption and Pattern of Tooth Fracture & Implant Prosthodontics

Programme outline: Understanding advanced endodontic problems. Handling endodontic failure alternatives related to implants.

Hands-on training: Reciprocating Niti and carrier-based thermoplastic obturation techniques & Implant prosthetic and surgery on phantom heads.

DAY 1

Aims

To understand the pathogenesis and treatment of internal and external resorption. To understand the interface between restorative dentistry and endodontics to give maximum survival and success rates. To understand the balance between endodontics and implants in restorative dentistry.

Objectives

Students will be able to understand the development and treatment of internal and external resorption lesions. Be able to apply the principles of restorative dentistry to prevent failure of endodontically treated teeth. Be able to develop a science-based knowledge on the success of endodontic and implant treatments.

Agenda

DAY 2

Aims

To understand how shape memory instruments can be advantageous in endodontic therapy. To understand how to use shape memory instruments to safely negotiate and predictable shape canals. Be able to understand the role of heat in root canal obturation.

Objectives

Students will have a clear understanding of how to use shape memory instruments in glide path management and shaping root canals. Be able to evaluate the use of the squirting technique, warm vertical compaction and continuous wave of compaction in 3-dimensional obturation of root canals.

DAYS 3 & 4

Title: Implant Prosthodontics Part 1 & 2
Faculty: Prof. Göran Urde

With more patients than ever opting for dental implants over traditional approaches, mastering dental implants represents a significant growth opportunity to practices across the UK. Completion of this course will allow for you to learn to safely place & restore dental implants, identify implant opportunities and plan treatments effectively and increase your implant knowledge observing other cases.

Agenda Day 1

08:30 – 12:45
  • How do implants work
  • Patient selection
  • Treatment alternatives
  • Treatment planning
Prof. Göran Urde
12:45 – 14:00 Lunch
14:00 – 18:00 Hands-on training (surgery on dummy heads) Prof. Göran Urde

Agenda Day 2

08:30 – 12:45
  • Surgical principles
  • Treatment planning single, partial and fully edentulous patients
  • Different loading concepts i.e. immediate-delayed loading
  • Implant prosthetics
  • Follow-up and maintenance of implants
Prof. Göran Urde
12:45 – 14:00 Lunch
14:00 – 18:00 Hands-on training (prosthetic & surgery on dummy heads) Prof. Göran Urde
